Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Lab Supervisor, Microbiology for the day shift on weekends in the U.S. operating environment. You will lead the shift team to deliver quality results, ensure EHS and regulatory compliance, and manage budgetary responsibilities for headcount and direct expenses.

The role oversees plant microbiology QA labs, drives CAPAs and audits, mentors personnel, and collaborates with production to optimize lab performance and product quality while maintaining corporate policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Science, Food Technology, or Technical with 2 years' experience in a laboratory (regulated industry)
• Strong written and spoken communication skills
• Demonstrated problem solving skills
• Experience in a high-volume manufacturing support laboratory
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
• Experience using project planning tools
• Plant financial understanding; ability to read financial statements

Responsibilities

• Lead shift team to meet quality, EHS, and production KPIs
• Initiate decisions impacting product quality and safety
• Manage headcount, overtime, and direct expenses for the shift
• Track and improve budget performance (headcount, OT, direct expenses)
• Drive lab efficiencies and schedule performance
• Understand KPIs and drive action plans with resources
• Provide coaching and develop team capabilities
• Ensure regulatory compliance and audits (FDA/OSHA)
• Lead microbiology QA lab operations (EMP, testing, CAPA)
• Mentor staff and ensure proper training and staffing
