Job summary

Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) MID-ATLANTIC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in the Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC) Branch, ROICC Newport. The role focuses on complex in-house design packages, HVAC/plumbing systems, and coordination across disciplines for military construction projects.

The incumbent will serve as the technical lead, performing advanced analyses, overseeing submittals, and mentoring other mechanical engineers and technicians within the department.

Qualifications

• SPF: current PE registration in any state, DC, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
• Professional Engineering degree or equivalent with required coursework.
• Experience: 1+ year specialized experience at GS-12 level or equivalent in mechanical engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Review and develop mechanical/plumbing designs and construction documents for military projects.
• Lead multi-discipline design coordination (mechanical with electrical, structural, civil).
• Provide technical guidance, on-site inspections, and quality assurance for design-build and design-bid-build acquisitions.
