Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Utah is seeking a mechanical designer to develop CAD models and 3D drawings for aerospace systems using Siemens NX and Teamcenter. You will verify designs through modeling, simulation, and test data, supporting all lifecycle phases from concept through production.

Candidates need a mechanical engineering degree with 5 years of experience, US citizenship with a Secret clearance, and familiarity with GD&T, ISO/ASME, and MBSE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field with 5 years of relevant experience.
• Sr. Principal level 4 requires Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience; or 6 years with a Master’s degree

Responsibilities

• Primary role is to serve as a mechanical designer for mechanical systems design on a major Northrop Grumman Defense Systems program.
• Research, plan, design, and develop mechanical/aerospace products for aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, missiles, ground vehicles and associated ground and test equipment.
• Develop CAD models and 3D model based drawings using Siemens NX and Team Center
• Verify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, test data processing, and performance analysis
• Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including design, drawings, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenance
• Design of components/systems, and preliminary/sizing analysis for both stress and dynamic analysis of aerospace structures.
• Preparation and presentation of reports, briefings, design documents (drawings and specifications) and interface with customers.
• Attend internal program meetings, customer technical exchanges, and supplier briefings; present design status during formal milestone reviews
• Assisting IPT lead in managing team schedule and mentoring junior engineers in mechanical design
