Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years.
• At least 1 year Lifeguard experience.
• Demonstrate Lifeguard skills per YMCA policies and procedures.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard or Red Cross Lifeguard, with YMCA Lifeguard certification within 30 days of hire.
• HSI certifications for BLS/First Aid/Emergency Oxygen required before first shift.
• Lifeguard Supervisor certification required before first shift.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.

Responsibilities

• Know and enforce safety rules, swim testing procedures, and pool policies.
• Perform pool maintenance and cleaning to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Test pool chemicals and maintain accurate records.
• Perform daily equipment checks and ensure needed equipment is available.
• Attend staff trainings and maintain required certifications.
• Provide leadership and guidance for other lifeguards on duty.
