Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Lead Engineer to advance our Continuous Improvement culture across operations. You will apply data-driven CI, lean tools, and Engineering and Automation efforts to raise safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth.

You will interface with employees at all levels and may manage CI resources under the CI Manager/Sr. CI Manager, aligned with the General Manager or Director of Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 7+ years in warehousing, transportation or manufacturing required; or Master’s with 5+ years experience.
• 7+ years in warehousing, transportation and/or manufacturing industry experience.
• Expert in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Data visualization with PowerBI/Tableau and database programming (SQL, DAX) preferred.
• Strong in Leader Standard Work, Visual Management, PDCA, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S.
• Core engineering and data analysis skills (slotting, labor planning, layouts, metrics) advanced.
• Knowledge of WMS tools and automation capability; CAD and slotting tools preferred.
• Understanding of APICS/supply chain certifications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and performs statistical analysis; maps processes and identifies gaps; develops CI plans.
• Manages high-impact CI projects; supports start-ups, retrofits, expansions; identify automation projects.
• Coaches teams in CI, QA, and Lean; applies lean methods and engages cross-functional stakeholders.
• May supervise CI engineering/quality professionals and participate in hiring decisions.
• Leads Value Stream Maps and Kaizen events; ensures sustainment and coaching.
• Provides regular progress reports and recommends inventory/ supply chain strategies.
