Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT seeks a Manager in the Advanced Materials Group to lead engineers and technicians in developing high-temperature exhaust system materials for state-of-the-art jet engines. You will drive program staff, coordinate with customers, and set technical direction from concept through production.

This role requires a university degree in materials science/engineering and an active DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

• A university degree in Materials Science/Engineering or related field with 8+ years’ experience.
• MS or PhD in Materials Science/Engineering or related field with 5+ years’ experience.
• Active DoD Security Clearance required; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers and technicians in development, validation and implementation of special technology materials.
• Support career development of a subset of engineers and technicians.
• Maintain lab equipment and coordinate with lab facilitator for resources.
• Ensure staffing and resources to execute development programs from concept to production.
• Interface with internal and external customers to define material needs and requirements.
• Set technical direction, budget and schedule for select programs and coordinate development activities.
