Job summary

Planate Management Group (PMG) is seeking an experienced Mail Security Operations Specialist to support high-risk mail operations for government facilities. You will help draft mail-screening procedures, advise on isolated-cell operations, and coordinate with security and first-responder teams across multiple sites.

Qualified candidates have 10+ years in high-risk mail screening or related operations, hands-on X-ray expertise, and experience leading teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in high-risk mail screening or related security operations.
• Hands-on experience with X-ray or similar imaging for letters and parcels.
• Experience leading mail-screening teams.
• Experience in isolated facilities and working with automated screening equipment.
• Familiarity with GSA or OSAC mail-screening guidance.
• Experience supporting DoD or SDVOSB contracts.
• Available for part-time work and occasional travel.
• Preference for former USSS/USPIS/military EOD/CBRN or similar roles.
• Knowledge of modern detection technologies and facility safety standards.
• Knowledge of Federal Mail Screening and Facility Standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop mail-screening procedures for high-consequence sites (intake, review, isolation, opening, release or escalation).
• Advise on isolated-cell operations: PPE, chain of custody, evidence handling, hoax-versus-hazard decisions.
• Support drills with security, facilities, and first responders.
• Translate operator workflow into automated screening system requirements.
• Train client screeners and field technicians on suspicious-mail recognition and stop-work authority.
• Support pilots: site survey, acceptance testing, go-live, initial operations.
• Coordinate incident documentation with USSS, USPIS, FPS, bomb squads as needed.
• Occasional travel to client sites and company locations.
