Job summary

Planate Management Group is seeking a Mail Security Operations Specialist to support high-risk incoming mail operations for government and high-security facilities. You will advise on mail intake, screening, isolation, opening when required, documentation, and escalation.

Ideal candidates have extensive experience with X-ray imaging, PPE, chain of custody, and hoax-versus-hazard assessments, plus familiarity with federal mail-screening guidance and the ability to travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in high-risk mail screening or related DoD/federal mail-security operations.
• Hands-on experience with X-ray or similar imaging of letters and parcels.
• Experience leading mail-screening teams and working with automated screening systems.
• Secret security clearance required; TS preferred.
• Knowledge of federal mail screening standards (GSA/OSAC).

Responsibilities

• Write mail-screening procedures for high-consequence sites: intake, screening, isolation, opening, release or escalation.
• Advise on isolated-cell operations: PPE, chain of custody, evidence handling, hoax-versus-hazard decisions.
• Support drills with security, facilities, and first-responder counterparts.
• Translate operator workflow into requirements for automated screening systems.
• Train client screeners and field technicians on suspicious-mail recognition and stop-work authority.
• Coordinate incident documentation with USSS, USPIS, FPS, local bomb squad, or equivalent as needed.
• Occasional travel to client sites and company locations.
