Job summary

Sunrock is seeking a Project Manager to lead heavy civil construction projects from estimate through closeout. You will coordinate schedules, manage budgets, oversee subcontractors and field operations, and partner with clients to deliver safe, on-time, and within-budget results.

This role requires 5+ years in construction project management, a Construction Management degree or equivalent, NC-specific experience with DOT or infrastructure a plus, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction project management experience.
• Experience with heavy civil and DOT/infrastructure projects preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specs.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; construction PM software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, MSHA, and OSHA regulations.
• Promote and enforce safe work practices across all project teams.
• Manage project schedules, sequencing, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate material flow, subcontractors, and field operations.
• Lead project estimating efforts, including scope development and cost analysis.
• Review contracts, plans, and specifications to ensure scope accuracy and risk mitigation.
• Track project costs, budgets, and financial performance to ensure profitability.
• Oversee billing processes, forecasting, and cost reporting.
• Provide regular project updates, forecasts, and performance insights to leadership and clients.
• Serve as the primary liaison between field operations, subcontractors, and customers.
• Support subcontractor selection, negotiation, and performance management.
• Identify project risks and proactively implement solutions to maintain schedule and budget.
• Respond to delays, emergencies, and field challenges.
• Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
• Maintain accurate project documentation including contracts, change orders, and reports.
• Drive accountability, communication, and performance across project teams.
• Participate in continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned
