Job summary

CVM Electric, Inc. is seeking a Lead Generator Technician to lead a field team across the Northeast. You’ll perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repair on diesel and natural gas generator systems, and coordinate junior technicians on job sites.

The role requires 5+ years in generator maintenance, a Journeyman Electrician license preferred, and travel within territory. The position offers competitive hourly pay and benefits in a family-owned company expanding a new Generator Division.

Qualifications

5+ years of generator maintenance and repair, incl. lead/senior tech.
Strong diesel and natural gas engine knowledge with electrical troubleshooting.
Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and manuals.
Valid driver’s license with a clean 5-year record.
Operate a 3500-series truck and tow a trailer.
Able to pass background check and DOT physical.
Own basic hand tools; CVM provides specialty/diagnostic tools.
Willing to travel within territory; overnight travel possible.
Preferred: Journeyman Electrician license; manufacturer certs (Cummins, Cat, Kohler, Generac, MTU); CDL A or B.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance, load bank testing, diagnostics and repair on standby and prime power generator systems.
Troubleshoot generator controls, ATS and related electrical equipment.
Install, commission and start up new generator systems.
Coordinate technicians on job sites, including larger installs and startups.
Train and mentor technicians on diagnostics and repairs.
Review service reports for accuracy and lead safety briefings.
Participate in candidate interviews and after-hours on-call rotations.
