Job summary

GenServe is seeking a highly skilled Power Generator Technician to join our field service team in the New Jersey region. This role requires diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel, natural gas, and propane generators, including ATS and control systems.

You will lead service projects and mentor junior technicians in the field. Qualified candidates have 5+ years in generator service, strong OEM knowledge, and a proven track record in diagnostics and on-site management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ direct experience in generator service/repair.
• Strong knowledge of major generator brands (Cummins, Kohler, Generac, CAT, MTU).
• Proficiency with multiple OEMs including Generac, CAT, Cummins, Kohler, MTU, and ASCO is preferred.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, multimeters, software interfaces, and load banks.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on commercial and industrial generator systems.
• Troubleshoot and service complex electrical issues, engine problems, and control system faults.
• Conduct full system testing including load bank testing, frequency/voltage checks, and ATS operation validation.
• Lead or support large-scale emergency service response efforts.
• Maintain complete and accurate service records, parts usage, and technical reports.
• Provide support and guidance to Gen Tech 1 and 2’s.
