BWX Technologies, Inc. invites applications for a Manufacturing Development Technologist in Lynchburg, VA.

The role leads fuel development and manufacturing operations, interpreting technical requirements and guiding process execution on-site at the Advanced Technologies Office. The ideal candidate has a strong background in fuel handling, high-temperature furnace and glovebox operations, and a proven ability to troubleshoot complex processes while maintaining safety compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; an associate’s degree preferred and may substitute for experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of related experience in fuel handling operations.
• Experience with high-temperature furnace and glovebox operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex process issues.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong commitment to safety culture and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead operator for fuel development and manufacturing processes, including high-temperature furnace systems and glovebox operations.
• Support installation, testing, and calibration of assigned equipment.
• Analyze and resolve development/manufacturing issues.
• Provide feedback on system behavior and facility requirements.
• Serve as area lead for fuel development/manufacturing operations with safety responsibility.
• Interpret engineering drawings to ensure correct installation and operation.
• Mentor and train new operators.
• Coordinate with stakeholders for area change management and communication.
