Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Manufacturing Development Technologist to lead fuel development and manage manufacturing operations, translating technical requirements into executable processes.

You will oversee high-temperature furnace and glovebox operations, ensure safety, mentor operators, and coordinate with engineering, EH&S, and management to maintain production quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred may substitute for experience.
• Minimum ten years of related experience required.
• Extensive experience in fuel handling operations, including high-temperature furnace and glovebox operations.
• Proficient reading and interpretation of engineering drawings.
• Strong commitment to safety and ability to obtain DOE/DOD security clearance.
• U.S. Citizen required.

Responsibilities

• Lead operator for fuel development and manufacturing processes with high-temperature furnace systems and glovebox operations.
• Support installation, testing, and calibration schedules of equipment.
• Analyze and resolve development/manufacturing issues.
• Provide feedback on system behavior and facility requirements.
• Act as area lead for safety and operations.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings for installation and operation.
• Mentor and train new operators.
• Coordinate area change management with stakeholders.
• Act as point of contact for assigned process areas.
• Support development of operating and technical procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
