Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. seeks a Project Chief Engineer to lead the development of a novel nuclear reactor and plant from design through delivery and testing. You will serve as the technical design authority and work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers.

The role requires a broad nuclear background, strong leadership, and collaboration with internal stakeholders, customers, and partners. The position is on-site in Lynchburg, Virginia, with travel ~20% and a need for U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or Physics required.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in nuclear reactor design.
• Experience leading technical teams on medium/large projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication across orgs.
• Ability to obtain DOE/DOD security clearance.
• Willingness to travel ~20%.
• U.S. citizen required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure technical integrity of reactor and plant design.
• Define key technical approaches for the program.
• Facilitate cross-disciplinary problem resolution.
• Ensure high-quality engineering work products.
• Synthesize requirements with program management and QA.
• Oversee verification plans with systems engineering and testing.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, procurement, and design teams.
• Review and disposition non-conformances during manufacturing and assembly.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and partners.
