Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) is seeking a Welding Engineer to improve welding operations and develop new welding processes at our Lynchburg, Virginia site.

You will collaborate with production and customer teams to implement robust weld procedures and joint designs that meet program goals. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in welding-related engineering, strong communication and teamwork, and solid problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Materials Joining Engineering, or equivalent is required.
• Must have superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Proven analytical and creative problem‑solving abilities.
• Must be highly self-motivated and detail oriented.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain DOE security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Manages welding projects from proposal through reporting phases.
• Collaborates with production welding engineers and shop floor personnel to improve processes.
• Interacts with customer representatives to meet project goals.
• Proposes and investigates new welding techniques and joint designs.
• Investigates modifications to welding processes to improve margins.
• Programs CNC welding equipment and prepares procedures and drawings.
• Prepares customer submittals and transmits information through formal channels.
