Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Welding Engineer for our on-site Lynchburg, VA facility. You will improve existing welding processes, develop new techniques, and collaborate with production and customers to meet program objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Materials Joining Engineering, or equivalent.
Superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
Keen attention to detail; highly self-motivated and directed.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
U.S. Citizenship required.
Ability to obtain/maintain DOE security clearance.

Responsibilities

Manages projects through proposal, scoping, execution and reporting phases.
Collaborates with production welding engineers and shop floor personnel to understand processes.
Works with customer representatives to meet project goals.
Proposes new welding techniques or joint designs to meet objectives.
Investigates modifications to improve process margin.
Programs CNC welding equipment.
Prepares welding procedures, drawings, and shop floor routing documents.
Prepares customer submittals for approval and communicates information clearly.
Operates welding equipment on development duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
