Job summary

Plug Power is seeking a Field Service Technician I, Lead to service fuel cells in customer locations and support prevention and repair of fielded systems. The role involves diagnostics, hardware/software upgrades, and direct interaction with customer personnel and lift truck operators.

The position requires a high school diploma with technical electrical coursework, several years of mechanical/electrical troubleshooting experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
• Three or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
• Formal training and education may be considered in lieu of direct experience.
• Must possess a valid driver license, a clean driving record, and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications preferred.
• General mechanical aptitude required; proficient with common tools.
• Computer and software skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and service of fuel cells at customer sites.
• Diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain fleet at a location.
• Field service procedures including retrofits and software/hardware upgrades.
• Provide emergency support to customers as required.
• Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for service.
• May troubleshoot high-pressure hydrogen storage, delivery, and fueling systems.
• Maintain ongoing communication with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers.
• Report fuel cell performance and maintenance issues to regional reps.
• Complete incident reports, service logs, and site documentation.
