Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Lead/Float Phlebotomist to cover multiple Patient Service Centers, ensuring timely service and high patient satisfaction. You will travel to centers as needed, validate patient data, and collect specimens using venipuncture and capillary techniques for all ages.

The role emphasizes training, mentoring PSC staff, and collaborating with the Phlebotomy Supervisor to maintain QA and continuous education.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification from ASCP or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in patient service centers preferred.
• High School diploma or GED; associate degree welcomed.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or in a team; minimal supervision.
• Computer literacy and basic software skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide phlebotomy and related services for all patients.
• Validate or enter patient demographics and orders in the system.
• Collect specimens by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all ages.
• Prepare specimens for transport to a BILH laboratory.
• Perform administrative duties to open, operate, and close the PSC daily.
• Assist in training, coaching, and mentoring PSC Phlebotomists as needed.
• Travel to additional PSCs and doctor's offices when required.
• Participate in QA programs, competency assessments, and continuing education.
• Ensure high patient satisfaction through quality service.
