Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Lead/Float Phlebotomist to support multiple Patient Service Centers (PSCs). You will cover PTOs, vacancies, and high wait times, travel between PSCs and doctor offices as needed, and help open new centers while gaining broad experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; associate degree welcomed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Comfortable with minimal supervision.
• Basic familiarity with computer applications preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification from ASCP or accredited agency preferred.
• Previous phlebotomist experience preferred.
• One or more years previous experience in lab PSC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent phlebotomy and related services for all patients.
• Validate/update patient demographics and orders in the BILH system.
• Collect specimens by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all ages.
• Prepare specimens for transport to a BILH laboratory.
• Perform admin duties to open/close the PSC daily.
• Assist in training, coaching, and mentoring PSC phlebotomists.
• Travel to additional PSCs and doctor sites as needed.
• Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies and procedures.
• Participate in lab QA programs, competency assessments, and continuing education.
• Contribute to high patient satisfaction and service quality.
