Job summary

Herc Rentals, a leading equipment rental provider, seeks a Mechanic A for its San Jose-area branch. You will lead fleet maintenance, mentor B/C mechanics, and ensure preventive maintenance and quality repairs align with Herc Rentals standards.

The role requires mastery of electrical, hydraulic, propane, and fuel systems, plus extensive use of diagnostic tools. Expect a hands-on, safety-focused work environment with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
Ability to drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
Demonstrated mastery of all Mechanic B and C-level tasks.
Comprehensive knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, propane, and fuel systems.
Proficiency with computerized diagnostic tools and fleet management systems.

Responsibilities

Lead fleet maintenance operations to keep Herc Rentals equipment ready for rental.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all fleet equipment.
Diagnose and repair engines, electrical, hydraulics, and fuel systems using diagnostic tools.
Maintain neat, organized work area and generate service reports and logs.
Assist in training Mechanic B and C technicians and support shop leadership.
