Job summary

Herc Rentals in Carson, CA is seeking a Mechanic B to support fleet maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on our branch-based fleet. You will perform preventative maintenance, inspect engines, and mentor junior technicians to ensure equipment stays on the rental 'ready line'.

The role requires hands-on mechanical skills, knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems, and the ability to read schematics. You will use computerized tools for diagnostics and contribute to detailed service reports and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
• Ability to drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Mechanic C-level tasks.
• Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulics; ability to read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on the branch fleet regularly.
• Diagnose and repair cooling systems and electrical systems.
• Identify and test engine cooling systems and fuel systems.
• Use computerized tools to trace and diagnose electrical faults and sensor issues.
• Replace hoses, sensors, and hydraulic components as needed.
• Assist in mentoring Mechanic C technicians and maintain clean work areas.
