Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Mechanic A who will lead fleet maintenance efforts and mentor junior mechanics. You will diagnose engines, hydraulics, and fuel systems while performing routine repairs to keep equipment on the rental ready line.

Responsibilities include developing maintenance schedules, operating and testing equipment, completing work orders, and using fleet management tools to order parts and document service. Strong communication and safety adherence are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3 years of experience repairing heavy equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
• Owns a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a consistent preventative maintenance schedule for all Herc-owned fleet.
• Operate and test equipment to ensure quality and efficiency standards are met.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs independently.
• Diagnose engines, electrical, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
• Lead fleet maintenance and mentor junior mechanics.
• Enter and review work orders and manage parts via the fleet system.
• Produce detailed service reports and repair logs.
• Support shop lead with training and coordination of crew.
