Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Mechanic A to lead fleet maintenance, diagnose electrical and hydraulic systems, and mentor junior technicians. The role requires hands-on expertise and a commitment to safety and quality, ensuring equipment stays on the rental ready line.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, repairs, and documenting service logs; you will work closely with the shop lead and dispatch field service as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Own a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools.
• Ability to drive and operate multiple vehicle types.
• Mastery of Mechanic B and C level tasks.
• Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, propane and fuel systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and fleet management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead fleet maintenance operations to keep equipment ready.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on fleet equipment.
• Carry out oil changes and routine services.
• Diagnose issues using electrical/hydraulic diagnostics and schematics.
• Test equipment to meet quality standards and document repairs.
• Mentor Mechanic B/C technicians and assist shop lead.
