Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Field Technician III to serve as an experienced field resource, leading crews and executing advanced testing and maintenance of substation equipment. You will troubleshoot complex systems, support commissioning, and ensure safety compliance on critical field operations.

With 5+ years in the industry and a NETA III certification, you will mentor junior technicians, review field documentation, and coordinate with engineers and project managers to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, or Military experience preferred.
• 5+ Years Relevant Industry Experience.
• NETA III Certified.
• Industry Certification Programs preferred - e.g. Infrared, Corona, Oil Analysis, Manufacturers, etc.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to and reinforce all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring proper PPE usage and safe work practices across the team.
• Lead job site safety briefings, identify hazards, and implement mitigation measures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, holding team members accountable and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead field execution of testing, inspection, and maintenance of high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment.
• Perform advanced testing and diagnostics on circuit breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding systems, battery systems, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical expertise.
• Direct repair, replacement, and maintenance activities to ensure proper restoration of equipment functionality.
• Support installation and commissioning activities, including leading functional testing and system verification.
• Interpret test results and recognize abnormal conditions, escalating issues and recommending corrective actions.
• Review and ensure accuracy of field documentation, including test reports, maintenance logs, and discrepancy tracking.
• Coordinate daily field activities with engineers, project managers, and other crews to ensure efficient execution.
• Mentor and train junior technicians, providing technical guidance and reinforcing best practices.
