Qualifications

• A BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or related field is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Minimum 12 - 15 years of relevant experience
• Experienced trouble‑shooting systems and proficient with Python, C, C++11, C++ STL and/or OpenCL
• Knowledge of Visual Studio, Eclipse or similar IDE and defect tracking tools
• Experienced with RS-485, RS-232, CAN, I2C, SPI, USB
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills required
• Travel may be needed for testing equipment
• Long hours in field test environments may be required

Responsibilities

• Writes and tests software to support integration of sensors and embedded processors into aircraft or other robotic systems
• Designs and implements software for prototypes and products using established tools and practices
• Leads in writing system requirements and test plans; assists with hardware selection and resource needs
• Leads rapid prototyping and estimation of development effort to fit timelines
• Works closely with other engineering disciplines and supports production transition and certification
• Develops proof of concept capability demonstrations and conducts design reviews
• Contributes to AV's software development process with quality code
• Handles complex issues requiring evaluation of intangibles
• Other duties as assigned
