Job summary

Enercon Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our Nuclear Services Environmental Licensing Team. You will conduct environmental reviews, prepare reports, and support NRC licensing applications while staying current with NEPA and other regulations.

Fieldwork and data collection will be required, with interactions to regulators and stakeholders nationwide. The role offers opportunities to lead environmental analyses, mentor junior staff, and develop technical content for complex

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in environmental consulting, nuclear power, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations (ESA, NEPA, MBTA, BGEPA, etc.)
  • Experience working with federal or state regulatory agencies
  • Experience developing technical reports, environmental reports and supporting regulatory reviews
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency using MS Word and MS Excel
  • Ability to travel/work in the field 5% of the time, with typical travel durations of 3-4 days (office work is typically 95% of the time for this position; fieldwork can include site visits and meetings with clients and applicable regulatory agencies)

Responsibilities

  • Environmental Impact Assessment & Compliance: Conduct environmental reviews to assess the potential impact of proposed nuclear facilities on terrestrial and aquatic resources. Prepare environmental reports and biological assessments in accordance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other applicable regulatory guidelines. Support environmental licensing applications for the NRC. Stay current on relevant environmental regulations and best practices
  • Data Collection & Site Evaluation: Participate in site visits to gather environmental data and assess potential environmental impacts. Support the development of technical content (text, figures, tables) for environmental reports and site feasibility assessments
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Interact with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and the public to address environmental concerns. Prepare presentations and reports to communicate complex environmental information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Fieldwork & Environmental Protection: Assist in the development and implementation of environmental protection measures. Perform terrestrial, aquatic, and federally protected resource evaluations for technical reporting
  • Mentorship & Proposal Support: Serve as mentor and trainer for junior staff in project management and technical performance of environmental compliance work. Preparation of proposals and statements of qualification
