Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing Co., L.P. is seeking an experienced Technician I for our La Porte, IN location. You will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a diverse fleet, setting an example as a lead technician at the site.

The role emphasizes independent work, safety, and ongoing training to advance your career. You will diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, differentials, and other major components, while mentoring others and maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational/technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• 6 years of practical experience with truck and tractor-trailer maintenance is expected.
• Valid driver’s license is required; CDL is preferred; DOT and safety policies must be followed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
• Perform preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers with minimal supervision.
• Repair and troubleshoot major components (engines, transmissions, differentials) and replace assemblies as needed.
• Keep work area clean and safe.
• Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Participate in Penske technician training.
• Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
