Job summary

Penske, a leading vehicle maintenance provider, seeks an experienced Technician I to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on a diverse fleet. You will lead at your location, mentor others, and work independently on major and minor repairs while driving diagnostics and using Penske’s training programs.

Qualifications

  • 6 years of practical experience with truck and tractor-trailer maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Specialized training and experience in diagnosis/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials); OEM training; ASE Certification; 608/609 certifications (preferred).
  • Experienced using all tools of the trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, and hand and power tools).
  • The ability to solve problems.
  • Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.
  • The ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Willing to work in non-climate-controlled conditions.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must comply with Penske safety and maintenance policies (DOT/OSHA).
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
  • Performing preventive maintenance services with little or no supervision.
  • Repairing and troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials).
  • Keeping work area clean and safe.
  • Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs including basic diagnostics.
  • Learning new skills through Penske’s technician training.
  • Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
