Job summary

Delta Dental of Massachusetts seeks a Data Governance Lead to develop and drive an enterprise-wide governance program. You will partner with IT, compliance, analytics, and data engineering to ensure data quality, security, and regulatory alignment across oral, medical, and social data domains.

The role requires experience leading governance initiatives in healthcare, expertise in DAMA-DMBOK, metadata management, MDM, and strong SQL skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in health informatics, data management, information systems, CS, or related field.
• 6–8 years of experience in data governance, data management, or information governance, incl. 4+ years in healthcare.
• Demonstrated success leading enterprise-scale data governance initiatives.
• Deep knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK, metadata management, MDM, and lifecycle management.
• HIPAA, HITECH, PHI/PII handling expertise.
• Working knowledge of SQL to support data quality and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive enterprise-wide data governance strategy.
• Lead the Data Governance Council and collaborate with stakeholders across teams.
• Monitor data quality KPIs and governance maturity, drive improvements.
• Manage governance tools, metadata catalogs, and data lineage documentation.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, SOC 2, HITRUST and related regs.
