Job summary

Delta Dental of Massachusetts is seeking a Data Governance Lead to drive enterprise-wide data governance strategies, partnering with IT, legal, analytics, and compliance. You will establish data ownership, steward ship roles, and governance maturity while ensuring HIPAA compliance across oral, medical, and social data assets.

The role emphasizes building trusted data assets, enabling data literacy, and delivering executive dashboards that demonstrate governance impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in health informatics, data management, information systems or related field.
• 6-8 years in data governance with 4+ healthcare experience.
• Experience leading enterprise data governance initiatives.
• Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK, metadata management, MDM, and data lifecycle.
• HIPAA/HITECH and handling of PHI/PII.
• SQL knowledge for data quality and reporting.
• Familiarity with Atlan, Unity Catalog, Microsoft Purview.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and lead an enterprise-wide data governance strategy aligned to healthcare standards and regulations.
• Lead the Data Governance Council and coordinate across business, analytics, compliance and tech.
• Implement scalable data quality management across oral, medical and social data domains.
• Coach data stewards and monitor governance KPIs and maturity.
• Manage data lineage documentation, metadata, glossaries, and dictionaries.
