Job summary

JLL is seeking a Lead Engineer for Data Centers in Columbus, GA. You will supervise operating engineers in installation, repair, and maintenance of base building and critical systems, ensuring smooth shift operations and minimal disruption to services.

The role requires hands-on data center experience, a valid Operating Engineers SMA license, Universal CFC certification, and the ability to manage safety and equipment uptime across fire/life safety, HVAC, and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 5+ years of supervisory experience.
• Operating Engineers license (SMA) and Universal CFC Technician Certification.
• Hands-on data center experience with UPS systems, generators, and switchgear.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance staff, delegate tasks, and monitor performance.
• Manage service requests efficiently with minimal disruption.
• Direct contracted maintenance work and oversee warranty fulfillment.
• Implement and schedule preventative maintenance program.
• Order parts/equipment and maintain inventory.
• Maintain and monitor critical systems (fire, HVAC, electrical, boilers).
• Record readings, analyze operations, diagnose problems, and take corrective action.
• Additional duties as requested.
