Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer, Data Centers in Columbus, GA. You will support the Chief Engineer in operating mission-critical data center facilities, lead technical teams, and drive reliability and efficiency across power, cooling, and network systems.

The role emphasizes management of maintenance programs, incident response, and cross-functional collaboration, with after-hours support and strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data center operations and management.
• Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure including power distribution, cooling, and network architecture.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE, TIA, and Uptime Institute standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing and coordinating data center facility operations and maintenance.
• Supervise and mentor technical staff including engineers and contractors.
• Monitor and analyze critical systems performance (power, cooling, network).
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safety, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in capacity planning and infrastructure upgrades.
• Respond to and manage critical incidents and emergencies.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management and clients.
• Be first point of contact for service impacting events involving electrical distribution.
• Assist in troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCAs).
• Provide after-hours support for electrical distribution systems (24x7).
