Job summary

Iron Mountain seeks a Design Manager to join our North America Design team. You will lead the delivery of complex data center design scopes for new builds, customer fit-outs, phased expansions, and operational upgrades.

Operating with high autonomy, you will direct multidisciplinary consultants and coordinate internal stakeholders to deliver safe, compliant, resilient, and commercially effective solutions. You will lead external design consultants, coordinate developers, equipment manufacturers,

Qualifications

• 5–9 years of experience in data centers, mission-critical facilities, or complex, services-led technical environments.
• Strong working knowledge of multidisciplinary data center design (mechanical, electrical, controls, architectural, civil) and relevant codes/standards.
• Commercial awareness to balance design choices against capital costs; strong negotiation and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Own Complex Design Scopes: end-to-end design delivery of building systems, major packages, or defined project phases from brief through construction support and commissioning handover.
• Direct Consultants & Stakeholders: lead external design consultants while coordinating developers, equipment manufacturers, contractors and internal partners.
• Establish Plans & Quality Control: establish design plans, deliverables, decision dates, and review gates; assess risks and provide evidence-based recommendations.
• Drive Governance & Support: provide accurate design reporting, site due diligence, permitting support, ensure adherence to standards, mentor colleagues.
