Qualifications

• Four (4) years of professional employment experience in food preparation, handling, or cooking.
• Two years cooking plus two years correctional experience may substitute for the four years.
• Substitutions: Coursework at an accredited institution may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Required competencies include reading/comprehending English, strong work ethic, supervision, sanitation, and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Oversee meal production for inmate populations.
• Ensure safety, security, and sanitation in kitchen operations.
• Supervise inmate workers and train in baking, cooking techniques, and sanitation.
• Track inventory, usage, expenses and waste to stay within budget.
