Job summary

South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced food service supervisor to oversee inmate dining operations, hire, train, and evaluate kitchen staff, and ensure meals meet the department’s master menu.

You will coordinate internal security, respond to complaints, maintain records, and prepare cook sheets while supporting inspections, safety compliance, and timely certification training within required timeframes.

Qualifications

• Related food service experience.
• Experience in quantity and quality cooking.
• ServSafe Manager certification or obtain within six months.
• Certified by SCDC training academy or complete SCDC basic training on hire.
• Must complete basic supervisory courses within eighteen months of employment.
• Prior supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs all employees in their duties; supervises staff daily.
• Acts as officer in maintaining internal security of cafeteria and resolves problems with inmate representatives.
• Responsible for accurate preparation of all food orders on a weekly basis and accurate deliveries.
• Prepares cook's work sheet in accordance with SCDC master menu and maintains 5-year records.
• Meets with health, fire & OSHA inspections.
• Responsible for maintenance/repair work on cafeteria equipment.
