Job summary

Pearson is seeking an experienced editor to uphold high editorial standards for educational assessment content. You will apply grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style per department and client requirements, ensuring uniformity across components.

The role emphasizes end-to-end copyediting, feedback-driven improvement, and collaboration with Editorial, Asset Services, Content, and cross-functional teams across Pearson’s publishing workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent certification/on‑the‑job training.
• Minimum of three years’ editorial experience and two years’ educational assessment experience.
• Demonstrates strong end‑to‑end copyediting proficiency: spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, diction, and usage.
• Interprets and applies major style and usage references (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, Gregg Reference Manual, Garner’s Modern English Usage).

Responsibilities

• Implements grammar, spelling, usage, punctuation, syntax, and style per department, client, and industry standards; applies rules consistently.
• Ensures uniformity and consistency across assessment components; sustains focus and identifies errors throughout the workday with minimal mistakes.
• Exercises good judgment when applying client style guidelines; queries deviations when appropriate and may create/modify client style guidelines.
• Understands copyeditor scope of responsibility and flags concerns when needed.
• Proactively seeks learning opportunities to strengthen editorial expertise and knowledge of style guides.
