Job summary

Pearson seeks an experienced editor to lead editorial efforts across assessment content, ensuring top quality and compliance with style guidelines. You will edit, proofread, and validate items, passages, and metadata, while collaborating with Content, CDS, and Asset Services teams.

Responsibilities include maintaining consistency, applying client style guidelines, and mentoring colleagues. The role emphasizes QA, copyright considerations, and accessibility best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification/on-the-job training.
• Minimum of three years’ editorial experience and two years’ experience in educational assessment.
• Strong end-to-end copyediting proficiency across spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, diction, and usage.
• Confidence applying major style references (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, Gregg Reference Manual, Garner’s Modern English Usage).

Responsibilities

• Implements grammar, spelling, usage, punctuation, syntax, and style per department, client, and industry standards; applies rules consistently.
• Ensures uniformity and consistency across assessment components; identifies errors throughout the workday with focus and minimal mistakes.
• Applies client style guidelines with good judgment; may create/modify client style guidelines.
• Understands copyeditor’s scope and flags concerns when needed; seeks learning opportunities to strengthen editorial expertise.
• Leads editorial processes and collaborates across departments to support cross-functional initiatives.
