Job summary

Pearson is seeking a lead editor to oversee editorial quality for assessment content. You will apply grammar, style, and risk standards while ensuring consistency across components and client guidelines. Strong judgment and collaboration across teams are essential.

Work with Editorial, Asset Services, Content, and CDS; mentor staff, develop training materials, and contribute to process improvements. This role requires NDA adherence, professionalism, and proactive learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent certification/training.
• Minimum of three years’ editorial experience and two years in educational assessment.
• Strong end-to-end copyediting proficiency across spelling, grammar, punctuation, and usage.
• Ability to interpret major style guides (Chicago, Gregg, Garner’s Usage).

Responsibilities

• Implements grammar, spelling, usage, punctuation, syntax, and style per department, client, and industry standards.
• Ensures uniformity across assessment components and identifies errors throughout the workday.
• Applies client style guidelines and may modify client style guidelines when appropriate.
• Understands the copyeditor’s scope and flags concerns when needed.
• Proactively strengthens editorial expertise through learning and training.
