Job summary

Pearson is seeking an experienced editorial professional to lead copyediting for educational assessments. You will apply Chicago and other standards, ensure consistency across components, and mentor colleagues in editorial best practices.

The role emphasizes proactive learning, collaboration across Editorial and Content teams, and adherence to stringent quality standards within Pearson’s assessment workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent certification/on‑the‑job training.
• Minimum of three years editorial experience and two years’ experience in educational assessment.
• Demonstrates strong end‑to‑end copyediting proficiency in spelling, grammar and terminology.
• Interprets and applies major style and usage references (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, Gregg Reference Manual, Garner’s Modern English Usage).

Responsibilities

• Implements grammar, spelling, usage, punctuation, syntax, and style per department, client, and industry standards; applies rules consistently.
• Ensures uniformity and consistency across assessment components; sustains focus and reliably identifies errors throughout the workday while minimizing mistakes.
• Queries when deviations from client style guidelines would be appropriate; may create/modify client style guidelines.
• Understands copyeditor’s scope of responsibility and flags concerns when needed.
• Proactively seeks learning opportunities to strengthen editorial expertise by refining skills and style knowledge.
