Job summary

Pearson is seeking an experienced lead editor to oversee editorial quality across assessment content and to coordinate with Content, Program Teams, and other departments. You will mentor staff, ensure adherence to client style guidelines, and drive consistency in grammar, usage, and formatting.

You will engage with ABBI and XML publishing workflows, contribute to training, and collaborate across Editorial and Assessment Trends channels to improve processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; three years’ editorial experience.
• Two years’ experience in educational assessment.
• Strong copyediting: spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, usage.
• Familiar with major style guides (Chicago Manual of Style, Gregg Reference Manual, Garner’s Modern English Usage).

Responsibilities

• Implements grammar, spelling, usage, punctuation, syntax, and style per department, client, and industry standards; applies rules consistently.
• Ensures uniformity and consistency across assessment components; sustains focus and reliably identifies errors.
• Exercises good judgment when applying client style guidelines; queries when deviations would be appropriate.
• Understands copyeditor scope; flags concerns when needed.
• Proactively seeks learning opportunities to strengthen editorial expertise.
