Job summary

Beverly Hills Rehabilitation Centre, LLC is seeking a cook to manage the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor and to ensure safe, sanitary operation. The role involves preparing meals, following menus, managing portions, and assisting with dietary staff training in a hospital/long-term care environment.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of hospital/long-term care cooking experience, and a ServSafe certificate.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; at least 1 year as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility.
• Language skills: read technical procedures, read and follow recipes, present information clearly to managers and employees.
• Mathematical skills: fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions in meals and quantities.
• Reasoning: solve practical problems and interpret varied instructions.
• Certificates: ServSafe certificate. Must stay in good standing with the Department of Public Health.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
• Prepare tasteful meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Follow prepared menus and portion control guides.
• Prepare special diets accurately and record food temperatures.
• Supervise in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor and assist with dietary staff training.
• Ensure cleaning schedules are followed and sanitation is maintained.
