Job summary

PACS seeks a dedicated cook to manage and operate the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. You will prepare meals for residents in a hospital or long-term care setting, ensuring safety and sanitation and adherence to menus.

The role requires a high school diploma, a ServSafe certificate, and at least one year of hospital cooking experience. You will train dietary staff, supervise when needed, and collaborate with nursing and administration.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility for at least one year.
  • Must be able to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
  • Ability to present information clearly to managers and staff.
  • Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
  • Prepare tasteful meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
  • Follow prepared menus and portion control guides.
  • Prepare special diets accurately and record food temperatures.
  • Assist with serving meals and maintain hygiene in serving carts.
  • Supervise in absence of Dietary Supervisor and ensure cleaning schedules are followed.
  • Participate in orientation and training of dietary staff.
  • Report resident care concerns to Administrator or Director of Nurses.
