Job summary

MARIONVALLEY is seeking a qualified cook to manage and operate the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. You will report to the Dietary Supervisor and ensure safe, sanitary, and orderly kitchen operations.

You will prepare tasteful meals, cook a variety of foods in large quantities, follow prepared menus and portion controls, and assist with special diets. You must have a high school diploma and at least one year of hospital or long-term care cooking experience, plus ServSafe

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 1 year cooking experience in hospital or long-term care.
• Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certificate.
• Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
• Strong presentation and communication with managers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
• Ability to prepare tasteful meals and to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Follow prepared menus and portion control guides; prepare special diets accurately.
• Record food temperatures; prepare pureed foods; cooperate with other departments.
• Supervise dietary staff in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor; maintain cleaning schedules.
