Job summary

Paycom - ATS in the Tampa area seeks a Cook to plan, prepare and serve nutritious meals from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with some weekend shifts. A High School Diploma or GED and three years of experience cooking for large groups are required, with experience coordinating kitchen staff preferred.

The role requires a Food Handler’s certification; a valid driver’s license may be required. You will join a team delivering safe, tasty meals and maintaining kitchen operations.

Job Details: Job Location: FLA-Tampa Area Command - Tampa, FL 33602, Position Type: Full Time Regular, Education Level: High School Diploma/GED, Salary Range: $17.75 - $19.50 Hourly, Job Category: Food Service, Schedule/Hours: Schedule will vary between both shifts – 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Days will vary. Some weekends included.

This position is responsible for:

Plans, prepares, cooks and serves nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules; ensures all meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner; cleans kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances; maintains inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner. Assigns, instructs and monitors work of other cooks and food service workers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assigns, instructs, and monitors work of other cooks and food service workers; ensures meals and snacks are prepared as planned.
• Plans menus and recommends purchase of food and supplies necessary for the preparation and serving of nutritional meals.
• Cleans, cooks, and prepares a variety of foods and beverages utilizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and supplies in accordance with acceptable and economical cooking methods.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Ability to cook, taste, and smell food.
• Ability to perform lifting duties.
• Ability to life and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently.
• Duties are usually performed by frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser period of sitting.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

• High School diploma or equivalent AND
• Three years’ experience cooking food for large groups with some experience coordinating the work of other kitchen staff OR
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Valid State driver’s license may be required
