Job summary

Salvation Army in Jackson, MS is seeking a Full-time Cook to plan, prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals for large groups, maintain kitchen safety and cleanliness, and supervise kitchen staff.

You will manage inventory, order supplies, ensure health regulations, and work with other staff to deliver meals on schedule.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years’ experience cooking food for large groups with some coordination of kitchen staff.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Safe Serve Certification upon hire, if required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Food Service Manager Certificate upon hire, if required.
  • Knowledge of proper cooking methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of meal planning techniques.
  • Knowledge of acceptable food storage and cleaning techniques.
  • Ability to assign, train, and monitor the work of other kitchen staff.
  • Ability to cook nutritious, tasteful, and safe food for large groups in a timely manner.
