Job summary

The Salvation Army in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a dedicated kitchen assistant to prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals for large groups. This role requires ensuring clean facilities and orderly dining areas as part of daily duties.

Responsibilities include coordinating kitchen staff, managing portions, and presenting meals attractively while adhering to safety and quality standards. A High School diploma and experience cooking for groups are preferred; multiple shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Three years’ experience cooking food for large groups with some experience coordinating the work of other kitchen staff, or
• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Food Manager Certification within 30 days of hire.
• State driver’s license optional.

Salary Range: $14.00 - $14.00 Hourly

Job Category: Food Service

Schedule/Hours: 40 hours per week weekend duty will be required

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Work is performed in a normal kitchen environment where there may be limited physical discomforts associated with working around hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers.
