Job summary

AdventHealth Ocala laboratory is seeking a leader to drive quality and performance improvements across the lab. You will manage staffing, training, equipment maintenance, and adherence to regulations while ensuring accurate testing and timely reporting of results.

This role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and ongoing professional development. You will supervise and mentor staff, coordinate with hospital departments, and participate in performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; CLIA equivalency if needed
• 1+ year of leadership experience (preferred)
• 3+ years of clinical laboratory experience (required)

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in laboratory performance improvement activities
• Manage quality assessment, oversight, problem solving, scheduling, and staff competency evaluations
• Perform pre-analytical activities including equipment maintenance, documentation, inventory control, and specimen handling
• Participate in laboratory and hospital Performance Improvement activities
• Accurately complete tests and analyses per procedures and standards, participate in proficiency testing
• Report results including highly abnormal results per procedures
• Read and interpret complex test results and provide technical support
• Oversee instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
• Lead quality control and quality assurance testing
• Provide orientation and training to new employees and students
• Provide guidance to staff and support education to clinical staff
• Follow safety policies and PPE use and hazardous waste handling
• Assist with SOPs and document control
• Transport hazardous waste as required
• Perform other duties as assigned
