Job summary

UNC Lenoir Health Care is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the Operating Room team in Kinston, NC. The role involves assisting physicians and RNs, maintaining a sterile environment, and supporting patient safety during procedures.

Responsibilities include setting up equipment, passing instruments, counting items, and ensuring infection control standards are met. Experience is preferred but not required; CPR certification and NSAA/CSA or national board credentials are expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an approved operating room course for surgical technologist.
• CPR certification and CSA/NSAA or National Board Surgical Technology certification required or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Sets up the surgical back table with instruments, supplies and drapes for procedures.
• Maintains sterile technique and proper counts of instruments, sponges and sharps.
• Prepares and drapes patients according to surgical procedures and maintains sterile field.
• Assists in maintaining a safe, clean OR environment and proper infection control practices.
• Cleans and decontaminates instrumentation and prepares sets for sterilization.
• Maintains proper documentation of instrument counts and autoclave/ Steris processes.
