Job summary

UNC Health Care is hiring a Lead Surgical Technologist to apply expert sterile technique and surgical knowledge. The role includes coordinating the surgical tech team and optimizing patient outcomes within the operating room.

The position requires graduation from a Surgical Technology program and NBSTSA or NCCT certification, along with BLS and strong computer skills. This is a full-time, on-site role at Pardee UNC Health Care’s Operating Room.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Surgical Technology program.
• National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting certification (NBSTSA) or NCCT certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and care of surgical patients under RN supervision to facilitate procedures.
• Ensure readiness of personnel, equipment, and supplies for the surgical service line (scheduling, preference cards).
• Act as peer leader, provide guidance and troubleshooting during procedures.
• Promote a safe workplace through quality practices and conflict resolution.
• Oversee inventory management for single-use and reusable items and monitor contracts.
