Job summary

UNC Health in North Carolina is seeking a Surgical Technologist, Certified to support the operating room team. You will prepare the OR, handle sterile technique, and assist the surgeon with instruments and supplies throughout procedures.

The role requires NBSTSA or NCCT certification and BLS, with a path for entry-level candidates and ongoing OR prep responsibilities. Work is onsite in a 36-hour weekly schedule in Pardee UNC Health Care's OR unit.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Surgical Technology program.
• NBSTSA or NCCT certification.
• BLS certification.
• Current Surgical Technician Certification with NBSTSA required; exemptions may apply for earlier grads.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and stages surgical environment / operating room (OR) for procedures.
• Gathers, checks, and opens supplies and equipment needed for procedures.
• Stages sterile surgical field with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions.
• Assists with draping the patient and establishing the sterile field; helps gown and glove.
• Performs dexterous tasks and assistance during procedures under the surgeon.
• Prepares, labels and hands off specimens as appropriate.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization; assists in OR cleaning for next case.
• Participates in debriefing and quality improvement practices.
